The Heart of America Eye Care Congress and the College of Optometry have had a wonderful tradition over the years and that continued during the 57th annual Congress held, February 9 – 11 in Kansas City. UMSL was represented significantly in many capacities including on the Board of Directors [Drs. Wes DeRosier (’96), Craig Brawley (’01), and Sean Mulqueeny (’91)] as well as the faculty (Associate Clinical Professor Dr. Julie DeKinder)]. The students had a very strong presence as well, whether it was the wonderful networking opportunities, the education, to serve as monitors, or to present – along with several UMSL graduates currently in residency programs – a scientific poster. The highlight, as always, was the annual alumni reception which, in 2018, was immediately before the annual gala and, therefore, was very well attended.
