Dr. Scott Ream (’87) and Dr. Debbie Kerber (’92) have been appointed to the Missouri State Board of Optometry. The board is composed of five licensed optometrists and one public member. As a board member, Ream will be responsible for overseeing licensing of optometrists, approving optometry schools, continuing education and handling patient complaints and optometric malpractice.

Two UMSL graduates were prominently featured in the November issue of Women in Optometry.  Dr. Bhumika Patel (‘14) – and her private practice, Redstone Family Vision, located in Indian Land, South Carolina – was the focus of an article entitled: “One Door Closed to Open Another”.  Dr. Heidi Pham-Murphy (’00) – and her private practice, Visions Optometry, located in Sacramento, California – was the focus of an article entitled: “Every Patient Encounter is a Teachable Moment”.
