First Fridays

The essence of this message is to share an exciting opportunity to expand our community STEM efforts with the Saint Louis Science Center. Under the support of Dr. Keith Miller, Orthwein Endowed Professor for Lifelong Learning in the Sciences College of Education and the Dept. of Computer Science, we have been invited to participate in the First Friday events

The dates and themes of the First Friday of the month events are below. We will be issued an 8′ table and chairs for set up from 5:00-5:30pm. The event plus setup is from 5:00-9:00pm. Visitors range in age (young children to adults) and in quantity (anecdotally, I’ve seen 10’s to many 100’s). A team of faculty and staff are currently drafting preliminary ideas and activities to align optometry and vision science with each remaining theme. As a public health and educational awareness effort, we also plan to market fliers, posters, and items to inform visitors of the profession and our college.
