About Our Practice
Hello and thank you for stopping by! I’m Dr. Tod Gerhardt, an owner of American Eyecare and a 2005 graduate of the Optometry program at UMSL. I may be a bit biased, but I think UMSL graduates the best and brightest in Optometry!   With the addition of a fifth office in July 2020, my practice is experiencing tremendous growth and would love to talk to you about helping continue that success!

We use a one-on-one approach to ensure all patients get the specialized attention they need. We work with patients of all ages and are equipped to see cases, including comprehensive eye exams, contact lenses, glaucoma, dry eye, myopia management, and other eye health screenings. It is our goal to provide unmatched care with the latest technology to deliver exceptional results.

About the Location:
Part-time OD:  The primary locations the part-time doctor would work are Mt. Pleasant and/or Fairfield, IA.

Full-time:  If you’re seeking full-time employment, you could work in any of our five offices, including Keokuk, Ft. Madison, Burlington, Mt. Pleasant or Fairfield.

You’ll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is motivated to grow along with our practice, personable, has excellent bedside manner, and medical optometry knowledge.
Your regular duties will include but are not limited to:
• Perform comprehensive eye exams
• Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
• Prescribe corrective lenses
• Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
• Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
• Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
• Handle eyecare emergencies
• 40-45% medical optometry performed

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications
-Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
-Valid state license to practice optometry
-Caring and friendly attitude
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-$100,000+ (Full-Time) + Sign-on
