Congratulations to our participants for completing the awarding-winning Eyes on Diversity High School Enrichment program. (2021 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award)

Dr. Brittany Wright, College of Optometry Coordinator for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion states “the profession of optometry offers a wide variety of professional paths that integrate patient care, medicine, technology, research, business, wellness, and so many other aspects. Eyes On Diversity offers us an opportunity to introduce students to the vast world of optometry, eye health, and vision care. With hands-on, interactive activities and presentations, we explore optometry from the prospective student stage through the practicing doctor’s ‘day in the life’. Through this approach, we aim to identify ways each students’ interest are represented in the profession and how their presence is needed to further develop these specialties! Through continued support of our campus partner, UMSL Bridge, and sole sponsor, VSP Global, we plan to continue the intentional work to increase diversity in Optometry for the benefit of our profession, patients, and global eye care industry!”
