One of the many points of pride for the College of Optometry is having one of the most active National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) chapters in the country. Two of their annual programs are highlighted in this issue of the EyeWire: the Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Handicapped Children, and the Annual Talent Show. The latter – which could recently be termed the “Madison Moss Annual” – is always a popular event and highlights just how much talent our students possess. Once again, the first-place award recipient was Madison Moss who displayed her unparalleled vocal and keyboard abilities. There were many other exceptional performances as well including the dance routine performed by Sara Taylor (’19), Libby Marquart (’21), and Lauren Dermody (’21) which was awarded second place. Tied for second place was the vocal and guitar ability of Ty Diggs (’21). Third place was awarded for the vocal talent of Jackie Hinderks (’20) As usual the awards were judged by an expert faculty panel than included Drs. Erin Brooks, Coral Pucci, Patrick Stark, and Tareq Nabhan. The photographer was Sydni Davis-Farhat (’20). The event itself is always a very popular one for the students as noted by Madison Moss (’20): “Participating in the talent show is such a treat; I look forward to seeing and hearing the incredible talents of my classmates each year. The event itself is a blast to be a part of – everyone encourages each other and celebrates one another in a special way. Not only will we be exceptional future optometrists, but we will always have these side gigs to fall back on, too!”
